Quick answers
How do you test a cow for mastitis at the farm?
Use a mastitis test paddle with 4 wells, one for each teat. Milk a little from each teat into its well, add the test liquid and swirl. If the milk turns thick or slimy, that quarter may have mastitis (thanela). Call your vet to confirm.
What is a dung cake maker?
A dung cake maker is a steel mould that presses cow dung into round cakes of the same size. In Hindi these cakes are called uple or kande. Gaushalas and dairy farms use it to make fuel cakes faster and cleaner than by hand.
